The Flash Season 3: What We Know So Far

A Lot of information has been dropping recently starting from the SD Comic-Con and then moving forward about several shows and characters including one of the best DC characters on TV at the moment, The Flash.

If you haven't watched the show all the way to the end of Season 2 stop now or read at your own volition, this post will definitely contain major spoilers.

In the finale of season 2 we almost left a broken Barry Allen after the murder of his father by the hands of the second season's villain Zoom. What's up with Barry's parents getting killed by Speedsters anyway?

After defeating Zoom using a time remnant of himself, Barry instead of ending the season with a broken heart, decides to go back in time and save his mother from being murdered by the Reverse Flash and he does. In this post we will discuss how the show will move forward from this point based on information we already know and some information that we will speculate.

- Barry has caused what is known in the comic-books and will be known on the show as "Flashpoint". In the comic books it was caused by the Reverse Flash instead of Barry himself. In that version Barry wakes up without his powers and has to recreate the experiment that gave him his powers to get it back. Cyborg is the world's quintessential superhero. Bruce Wayne was killed instead of his parents and Thomas Wayne is batman, Superman is is detained by the government, the Justice League is fighting among themselves. There is also the fact that Captain Cold is the city's greatest hero. It also alters the death of his parents where both of them are alive even though in the comics Henry Allen died of a heart attack three years prior to Flashpoint.

- We know for now that we will probably not be seeing any kind of Batman version since Batman does not currently exist as part of the arrowverse. The same goes for both Superman and Cyborg. Even though Superman will be coming to Supergirl he is part of an Earth-X since she doesn't exist on Earth-1.

- I speculate that we will see Captain Cold as Central City's greatest hero. Even though Wentworth Miller's character died on the first season of Legends of Tomorrow the Flashpoint incident could bring him back. That coupled with the fact that the actor got a contract to be a regular on at least three of the four DC shows airing on CW, I believe chances of this happening are very high.

- Barry will wake up with powers as opposed to the comic book version. It makes sense that the producers and writers will not want to repeat that whole getting the powers back scene especially that it happened too close to the end of Season 2.

- Wally West will be kid Flash, we have been expecting that anyway but it is good to have confirmation anyway.

- Matt Letscher will be back as the Reverse Flash. I am assuming Barry somehow captures him after saving his mother. We will be seeing Eobard Thawne naming the Flashpoint and calling Barry the villain for the altered timeline he created.

- Iris seems to have never met Barry in the altered Flashpoint timeline. Joe West on the other hand seems to barely know him. His relationship with Barry seems to be very insignificant and definitely as strained as the relationship between Earth-2 Barry and Earth-2 Joe as we have seen it in Season 2.

- Cisco is the richest man in America, that is gonna be a lot of fun.

- Cisco and Caitlin don't seem to know Barry at all.

- We will be seeing Dr. Alchemy as one of the major villains in this season. The bigger villain will be a black speedster that will be meeting later in the season.

- Tom Felton has been cast for the third season of the flash and it is speculated he will be Dr. Alchemy. He is in all cases be very bad news for Barry it seems.

Eobard Thawne seems to be giving Barry solid advice on how the Flashpoint is a mirage that will take everyone down including Barry and Eobard himself.

- I speculate that the Flashpoint will probably persist through most of the first half of the season if not the entire half and Barry will probably have to change things back to Normal once the downward spiral he is going through has him hitting rock bottom.

- I speculate as well that we won't be seeing Earth-2 Harrison Wells early on in the third season but rather with the change Barry has made to the timeline we will probably meet an alive and well Earth-1 Harrison wells unharmed by Eobard Thawne.

Other things that could be done with the characters in the third season could include:

- Earth-1 Caitlin could now be Killer Frost, at least until Barry changes things back to normal.

- Cisco could be a more evil version of himself, more like an Earth-2 reverb.

- We could probably have Hunter Zoloman introduced again but in a better light and as a more decent less evil person.

I believe so many things can be done with Flashpoint and the longer it is extended the easier it is to do more with the characters and to play around with a huge multitude of possibilities, bring in old villains and new good guys.

Psyched for Season 3? I definitely can't wait.
