You are not watching Flash if you don't have a speedster villain who makes Barry run for his paycheck. And the new speedster has now been announced, in name of course. We will only get to know who he is out of the cast of the season closer to the end of the season, as usual.
Savitar in the comics is a cold war pilot who discovered his ability to move at super-speed to defeat his enemies and became obsessed with it after his plane went down in hostile territory. Savitar discovered he possesses yet more powers as he studied his speed. The man could protect himself in a zero-inertia field and transfer speed and kinetic energy to other people and his healing abilities were almost instant.
The speedster gained followers and the followers became a cult. The main protagonist in the comics against Savitar is the father to the infamous Jesse Chambers (Jesse Quick), Johnny Quick. Savitar is allied with Max Mercury (Quicksilver), yet another supervillain speedster in the DC universe who led him away from the battle against Quick and towards the speed force.
Years after his encounter with Quick and bouncing off the speed force, Savitar resurfaced to find an overgrown cult awaiting his return. He recruited Lady Flash (Christina Alexandrova) who was obsessed with Speed and Velocity 9 and has assumed the title Lady Flash after being given a Flash costume by Vandal Savage. Savitar used Christina to divert all the energy from the speed force to his army and then he went for eliminating his competition, villains and heroes as long as they were speedsters.
Wally West who did not lose his speed created a coalition of almost every speedster alive to stop Savitar's plans and succeeded in defeating him.
Savitar's has more abilities than the ones we mentioned here earlier, He is a speed force conduit, meaning he is connected and tethered to the speed force. He displays extremely accelerated healing, increased perception through heightened senses, phasing where he can achieve intangibility for short bursts and superhuman durability, stamina, agility, reflexes and of course speed. Savitar can also absorb the speed force and disable others from using it, generate electrical energy and strike with lightning and finally he is capable of powering his ninjas with his own speed.
Whether Savitar will be on the show with all these abilities or will only display some of them is yet to be seen.
The Flash returns on the 4th of October with all new episodes on the CW.
