The move to the CW will also allow for superheroes of one show to guest star in the others and if I know anything, the "Crisis of Infinite Earths" that almost happened in the season finale of 'The Flash' might give us a second 'Supergirl' season that starts with both Earths merged bringing the character and her friends into the CW's Flarrowverse, that or somewhere the Flashpoint or its reversal might cause that and make the lives of the writers way easier and make things more fun for the viewers.
One of the perks of having all 4 shows on the same network is the possibility of having one of our superheroes guest star on another show, sort of like Stephen Amell guest starring on the finale of the first season of the Flash in the latter's final showdown with Eobard Thawne followed by Grant Gustin guest starring in the finale of the third season of Arrow and saving the prisoners in Nanda Parbat.
But enough of that for now, for Supergirl has more surprises for us. The show has brought into its fold four more major characters this season. Supergirl has cast Katie McGrath in the role of Lena Luthor, Lex Luthor's sister and someone who will become a very close friend of our beloved Kara Zor-El.
We already know about the casting of Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent (Superman) Kara's cousin but what is new here is the casting of yet a second Kryptonian, or at least someone who will seem like a Kryptonian at first. Chris Wood who starred recently on the CW's containment is joining Supergirl in the role of Mon-El, yet another Kryptonian.
Last but not least the show has cast Sharon Leal as Miss Martian.
What does this mean for the show?
Throughout the first season as far as Superheroes go, the entire focus of the show was on Kara, no one else could do what she does or anything close except Hank Henshaw, but even he tried to rarely use his powers to ensure his identity stays secret. Now that his Martian nature is out in the open, he will probably be part of the action a lot more along with Supergirl, Superman, Mon-El and Miss Martian making the show more versatile to giving us various team-ups throughout the season and at some point maybe a team-up that includes all five of them.
I think this is going to be great for Supergirl. Along with the 4-Night crossover with the other three CW/DC series and the 2-Night musical crossover with the Flash, the second season of Supergirl will be stronger and will position itself differently than the first.
We will be posting more about the newly added characters throughout the day. Thanks for tuning in and remember, Supergirl returns for its second season on the CW on October 10.
