When you read the title Legion of Doom, you automatically think, "No wonder they are bringing in 5 new superheroes to Legends of tomorrow to replace three."
The three being replaced are Leonard Snart (Captain Cold), who died in season one as he sacrificed himself to save the team of Legends, Kendra Saunders (Hawkgirl) who quit the team after they defeated the supervillain Vandal Savage in the finale of the freshman season of the DC series, and last but not least Carter Hall (Hawkman) whom we watched quit the team with Kendra.
And if you think about it closer you will get the feel that the creators are replacing two and half heroes or less with five since Hawkman didn't play the biggest role during the season and was only there early on and near the end with an absence throughout most of the season.
If that's what you thought when you heard the title Legion of Doom wait until you actually hear the names that this title has within its fold.
In the Comics
In the comics the Legion of Doom is composed of a multitude of members and is led by Lex Luthor. Whether it will be led by Luthor or not on the show is still to be seen, however, the show is doing the Legion of Doom differently than in the comics.
The members of the Legion in the comics are Bizarro, Black Manta, Brainiac, Captain Cold, Cheetah, Giganta, Gorilla Grodd, Lex Luthor, Riddler, Scarecrow, Sinestro, Solomon Grundy, Toyman and the Reverse Flash.
On the Show

The producers of Legends of Tomorrow also chose two other characters that are not part of the Legion in the comics and made them part of the legion on the show.
We will see Neal McDonough reprise his role as Damien Darhk (Leader of H.I.V.E.) who was the main supervillain on the fourth season of Arrow. We will also see John Barrowman reprise his role as Malcolm Merlyn (The Dark Archer) who was the main antagonist on the first season of Arrow and continued to be a minor one through the following three seasons.
All four actors have been made series regulars on Legends of Tomorrow for its upcoming season.
A few things I am particularly looking forward to are:
- Sara Lance (The White Canary) beating the hell out of Malcolm Merlyn at some point for controlling Thea and have her kill her at some point.
- Sara Lance (The White Canary) beating the hell out of Damien Darhk and hopefully murdering him at some point to avenge her sister, Laurel Lance (The Black Canary) whom he murdered on the fourth season of Arrow.
- Mick Rory (Heat Wave) having to deal with the fact that one of the villains that needs dealing with is Leonard Snart (Captain Cold), his comrade and best friend through the years.
Other than that I look forward to seeing how badly the team of legends and the cast members of the Justice Society of America will be bruised so badly having to deal with this scary legion of Doom.
