Gotham Season 3: Poison Ivy - A Comic Book Not So Fairy Tale

In the comics our not so beloved Ivy Pepper is actually Pamela Lillian Isley and is a supervillainess who appears in DC comics usually as a foe of Batman.

Originally, a promising botanist with a P.H.D. Lillian was seduced by a Marc Le Grande into assisting him steal an Egyptian artifact containing ancient herbs and then tries to poison her with the herbs out of fear she would implicate him in the theft. Pamela survives the attempt as she gains an immunity to all natural toxins and diseases.

Maggie Geha
Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths, her origin story is revamped. Isley comes from money and emotionally distant parents. She studies botanical sciences in the University with Alec Holland (who becomes superhero Swamp Thing) under the supervision of Dr. Jason Woodrue (who becomes supervillain Floronic Man). She gets seduced by her professor who experiments on her by injecting her with poisons and toxins leading to her transformation. Isley nearly dies twice during the experiments leading to her insanity. After Woodrue flees she wakes up in the hospital six months later angry at his betrayal she starts suffering mood swings, being sweet at one moment and evil the next. When her boyfriend dies after suffering a massive fungal growth she drops out of school and leaves Seattle only to settle in the home of Batman, Gotham.

Her life of crime starts when she threatens to release her suffocating spores into the air unless her demands are met by the city, however, her plot is stopped by Batman.

Poison Ivy is obsessed obsessed with plants and botany. Her trademark is the use of toxins from plants and mind-controlling pheromones for her criminal activity. She is also associated with Harley Quinn whom she partners with at some point.

In time the amount of chlorophyll in Ivy's tissue permanently turned her skin green. Ivy can also control plants with her mind.

FOX's TV series Gotham has cast Maggie Geha to play the role of a grown up Ivy Pepper who will become Poison Ivy in the upcoming season. The story used on the series seems to be completely different with a different name, the name of the currently existing character on the series being Ivy Pepper.

Gotham returns to FOX this fall with all new episodes.
