Gone Girl (2014): May Contain Spoilers

It is just too hard to review this movie and do it justice without at least minor spoilers in the mix. The movie is so amazing yet so hard to describe in vague words.

For starters the performances of both Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike were just great. I have only seen the latter in Jack Reacher before watching this movie and in my opinion she did well there but just the way she portrayed her role here was amazing.

The writing of course is as close to flawless as it could get and even though I haven't read the novel I have come to know from others who did that it is as good as the movie so it is easy to understand how the movie script came to be so well written.

Throughout the first half of the movie we briefly get a rundown of how Pike and Affleck's characters came to get married and then it is a roller-coaster ride from there. The wife disappears, the husband is gradually accused of murdering her and we get to believe that he might have actually killed her cause while he keeps claiming innocence all the way Kim Dickens (who portrays the cop in charge of investigating Pike's disappearance) slowly convinces us Affleck is hiding something.

Still of Ben Affleck in "Gone Girl"
As a viewer I was confused throughout the first half of the movie and wondering if Nick Dunne (Affleck) kill his wife Amy (Pike). That is until halfway through the movie you are hit with the fact that she is alive and not only that but she is one hell of psycho. She planned her own fake death, planned to end up killing herself at some point once she was sure he was framed all the way for her murder and all just because he asked her for a divorce. But that is not all there is to the movie, there is another psycho, a murder and the chance to see a fan favorite "How I Met Your Mother" transform from a womanizing funny guy to a psycho with crazy guys in his role in this movie.

I rate the movie with a solid 8 out of 10. Totally worth checking out and definitely worthy of its Top 250 Movies of all time spot on IMDb.
