Arrow: Who Is Prometheus

As we all know, the big bad villain of the fifth season of Arrow is going to be Prometheus. So it is about time we talk a bit about who Prometheus is in the comic books.

Unfortunately, there are three versions of Prometheus in the comics and hence we won't know which one the series will do or if it would do a mash-up of all three.

Curt Calhoun

We already mentioned him in a previous post and discussed why it would be fun to have this version on the show considering Curt is a small time criminal who worked for the supervillain Dr. Alchemy who is one of two big villains on The Flash this upcoming season. It would be really fun to be honest if you have two connected villains on both shows. It would just allow for more integration between both shows, more crossovers, more guest starring and not just of our favorite heroes but of the villains as well going from one show to the other for a visit at times.

In the comics Curt and Dr. Alchemy are captured by Ted Kord (The Justice League Superhero 'Blue Beetle') when they try to steal from his organization.

Calhoun then aids the Blue Beetle against The Calculator (Who we know on the show 'Arrow' as Felicity Smoak's father). He is offered a position then by Kord as a foreman at KORD Inc.. When an industrial accident takes place at Kord Inc. and Calhoun tries to save Kord he ends up covered with the metal promethium.

Mento, the leader of Hybrid (A supervillain team) transformed the metal covering Calhoun into a permanent metallic shell. After assuming the name Prometheus.

As for his powers and abilities, Calhoun's metal epidermis provides him with superior strength and durability. He is also known to be able to raise the temperature of his armor to several hundred degrees Celsius. Ouch, that's gonna be rough for Arrow if he is our villain.

The Second Prometheus

The second Prometheus who is unnamed in the comics was the son of two criminals who committed murder and theft and ended up being shot by local law enforcement. Prometheus vows to avenge his parents from the forces of justice.

He develops his skills over time using his parents hidden cache of money and comes back years later after participating in criminal activities all over the world to kill the police officer who shot his parents.

Later and in the Himalayan city of Shambhala Prometheus resides in a monastery of evil monks only to realize that the monastery is built over an alien spaceship. He kills the leader of the monk sect, who was one of the creatures from the alien vessel, obtains the Ghost Key opening the portal to the Ghost Zone (which allows interstellar travel).

Prometheus copies the mannerisms of Retro (who won a competition to be part of the Justice League for a day) using his advanced helmet and after he kills him. He did so to infiltrate the Justice League. After a seemingly brief victory, Catwoman caught him off guard and the heroes regrouped and he had to retreat after his systems are infected with a virus.

As for his abilities, this version of Prometheus possesses no superhuman abilities. He rather utilizes a range of equipment and technology along with his external physical skills.

Chad Graham

He is also known as the Impostor Prometheus. Chad, who was Prometheus' side kick then left him returned after Prometheus went into a mentally disabled state to assume his mantle. He appears in Star City battling the Green Arrow who almost kills him however he ends up being saved by Hush (Thomas Eliot - a supervillain known to be Batman's foe). Hush teams with Prometheus but then abandons him due to his incompetence. He is then almost killed by Talia Al Ghul and her Cobra Cult but is saved by Hush again. Chad (Prometheus) then becomes part of the Secret Society of Supervillains.

I guess Chad Graham is also a possible variation for Arrow. However he would be such a wimp for most part of the season until he somewhat grows stronger. There is also the option of creating a Prometheus who is a mix of all three versions.

Chad relies on the use of two pistols. He also possesses his mentor's (the second Prometheus') helmet and artificial skills.

Which one do you think, expect or want to be the villain on the fifth season of Arrow? Or do you just expect or want a mash-up of all three? Feel free to tell us what you think in the comments section below.

Thanks for tuning in and remember come the 5th of October Arrow will be airing the first episodes of its new season and we will be doing reviews of every single episode as it airs or at latest a day or two after.

Cloud Atlas (2012): No Spoiler Review

I was not prepared. Words that many World of Warcraft players would find funny given they are a variation of the infamous character among WoW fans Illidan Stormrage. But it is true. I was not prepared at all. I started watching Cloud Atlas as one other movie for Tom Hanks, one that is probably going to be good but not as good as the ones that got all the hype when they were released. But I was definitely surprised and unable to get out of my seat and away from my screen. This is one of those movies that is so hard to describe and review without spoilers. However, it is also one that is impossible to describe and review with the use of so many spoilers, if any at all. Every actor/actress in this movie has portrayed multiple characters. Tom Hanks for starters did a great performance with every single character he portrayed from distant future Zachry to 70s scientist Isaac Sachs among 6 roles he portrayed in the movie out of which 4 were major and 2 although minor ...

Bridge of Spies (2015): Review (May Contain Spoilers)

Standing there like that you reminded me of the man that used to come to our house when I was young. My father used to say: "watch this man'. So I did. Every time he came. And never once did he do anything remarkable. The words of Rudolf Abel in one of the most epic conversations between him and James Donovan as part of One hundred and forty minutes of Tom Hanks as James Donovan, One hundred and forty minutes of  Mark Rylance as Rudolf Abel, One hundred and forty minutes of classic, epic, awesome acting, awesome story and last but not least of great entertainment. The conversation continues when Donovan responds: And I remind you of him? To which Abel responds: This one time, I was at the age of your son, our house was overrun by partisan border guards. Dozens of them. My father was beaten, my mother was beaten, and this man, my father's friend, he was beaten. And I watched this man. Every time they hit him, he stood back up again. So they hit him harder. Stil...

American Gothic - Season 1 Episode 9: Spoiler Review

The latest episode of American Gothic actually managed to make things a bit better, in fact just when it seemed like it was hitting rock bottom, the show improved by a lot rather than a bit. The most recent episode gave us a closer glimpse at Garrett's character, who he was and what he is like. He is still a little bit enigmatic seeing as to how the show did not tell us who he killed as a teenager. However, it did give us a great insight on where he grew up between leaving his family and coming back fourteen years later after Tessa called him with news about his hospitalized father. The episode guest starred M.C. Gainey whom we probably all remember as Tom/Mr. Friendly on Lost. The actor did a very good job in portraying the friend and companion of Garrett's journey away from his family. As Garrett is now in jail and awaiting trial for being the partner to one Silver Bells Killer we see him flashback to relationships with his entire family, how he left and how he came ...
