The Death of Laurel. That threw a lot of Arrow fans into a phase of anger and frustration. But the good news is we are all sure Oliver will meet her again considering we have already met her on The Flash. Well not that exactly but we met her Earth-2 Doppelganger which we are sure is destined at some point to meet Oliver Queen. Earth-2 Laurel is closer anyway to the Black Canary from the comic books than the deceased Earth-1 Laurel.
LAUREL STAYS

So The fans of Katie Cassidy can now rejoice, she is still on, up and around.
On another note Katie Cassidy's acting improved significantly on the episode of her death which made me while wishing she would end up being in the grave not want her to die at that point when it was pretty clear she was going to end up 7 feet under.
EVELYN SHARP IS NO BLACK CANARY
A major change has been made to the Evelyn Sharp character introduced on Arrow during season 4 and portrayed by Madison McLaughlin's . The character that imposed as the Black Canary is now set to become Artemis, a new archer to join team archer and will probably replace Thea who seems to have pulled out of Team Arrow in the season 4 finale.
Worth noting that Artemis in the comic books was daughter to two villains Sportsmaster and Huntress and was trained along with her sister Jade from a young age to take over after their father. However, her sister ran away in search for a better life, her parents ended up divorcing and Artemis stayed with her mother. Later in her life she ended up being part of the Green Arrow team after the departure of Speedy. This last bit aligns perfectly with the plans for the upcoming season of Arrow. The background of Artemis on the show will probably be clearly defined much better during the first few episodes of the season.
Thea on the other hand will be busy running the city to help Oliver perform his job as a mayor while he is busy being a vigilante. Curtis as well will see a change in the season as he will become the Mr. Terrific the fans have been waiting to see.
Prometheus
Prometheus will be a major recurring villain during the fifth season of Arrow.
Prometheus in the comic books is a name assumed by three different characters. Curt Calhoun was the first and was a criminal working for Doctor Alchemy (One of two major villains on the Flash this year) and is hired to steal a quantity of the metal promethium.
There is a reason to support Calhoun will be the Prometheus on Arrow and the same reason can kind of support he won't. First off it would be great to have a recurring villain on Arrow who works with or for a major villain on the flash, it would strongly connect the shows together more than ever. In the same time it would be a logistical nightmare to have the shows connected on that level and would probably require repetitive crossovers between both shows even if with one or two actors/actresses on either of both shows.
Diggle
Diggle will start the season in Chechnya with the special forces dealing with his guilt over Laurel's death and dealing with the fact that he had to kill his brother Andy. It has also been made clear that Diggle will be affected by the Flashpoint on the Flash in a way. That is yet to be determined.
Arrow returns to the CW on the 5th of October.
