Arrow: Season 5 News

A few pieces and bits of news about Arrow are out there as of yesterday.

Say No To The Bats

Rumors that members of the Bat Family, Batman and Batwoman, becoming part of the Arrowverse were debunked by the producers of Arrow.

Season 6 Flashbacks?

On another note it has been indicated that if and when Arrow is to be renewed for a sixth season, the season might not only be constituted of flashbacks but of flashforwards as well. Arrow's fifth season would mark the end of the flashbacks in all cases since it would conclude Arrow's five years in and out of the Island before returning home.

The flashbacks of the sixth season will explore perspectives of other characters rather than that of Oliver Queen as Mark Guggenheim (Exec Producer) and Wendy Mericle (Exec Producer) indicated. They also stated that in time the series might also indicate Flashforwards. Guggenheim also mentioned that some episodes will be flashback free.

It is of mention here that the past five seasons were composed of flashbacks and present day event. Except for the two flashforwards in the fifth season pertaining to the death of a team member (The Black Canary), the idea of flashforwards previously adopted by the hit TV Series Lost, will be a great idea and a novel experience for the show and its viewers.

One of the best things about Lost adopting flashbacks is they managed at times to confuse viewers as to what was a flashback and what was a flashforward so the viewers ended up going through entire episodes at times believing they were watching flashbacks while they ended up being flashforwards and vice versa. If done correctly Arrow can achieve what Lost achieved in that sense.

Constantine

Arrow series creator Greg Berlanti shocked the fans as he stated that Constantine may not return to Arrow, not in the near future at least. He stated that Constantine exists in a specific place in the DC universe. He also mentioned that the higher-ups in the CW are looking at what they might do with the character.

That being said the question that poses itself here is could the one season of thirteen episodes Constantine series that aired on NBC in 2014 and then got cancelled in May 2015 get picked for a second season on the CW as part of the Arrowverse or a bigger CW/DC universe? Who knows? Maybe we are destined to someday watch a five night crossover on the CW.

Dolph Lundgren

Apparently the actor has been cast to play a big bad Russian villain in the flashbacks of the sixth season where Oliver Queen will be headed to Russia for one last year of pre-return to Star City adventure. The actor will be guest starring in three episodes and will have at least one fight scene with Stephen Amell the Arrow producers indicated.

Thank you for tuning in and remember Arrow returns to the CW this October with all new episodes.
