Arrow: Who is Wild Dog

There is yet another new edition to Team Arrow in its upcoming season.

We have already mentioned that Arrow is building a new team of superheroes. We shall be seeing 'Artemis', 'Wild Dog' and last but not least 'Curtis Holt' is going all 'Mr. Terrific'. I know what you are thinking, "FINALLY." It's true that Curtis has only been around for one reason but everyone has been waiting for him to turn into his expected superhero persona, 'Mister Terrific'. In the comic books Mister Terrific is Michael Holt but people have speculated that the change of name to Curtis was a diversion and it seems they were right. We will come back to him later though in another post perhaps.

This post is more about one of the newer editions, Wild Dog whose alter ego on the show will be Renee Ramirez. Renee Ramirez who will become part of the Arrow Team is going to be a new vigilante who appears in Star City. His reckless and violent nature according to news on the new character will cause the Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) to take him under his wing. The character will be portrayed by 37 year old actor Rick Gonzalez (Picture).

Comic Book Wild Dog

In the comics though Wild Dog is one Jack Wheeler who went to college on a football scholarship, then dropped out after an injury forced him off the team. Wheeler then joined the Marines which he ended up quitting as well after most of his squad was killed by a terrorist bomb.

He the returned to the Quad Cities to take night classes at State University.

At some point Wheeler's girlfriend Claire Smith gets gunned down. It is then revealed that her last name was actually Carmonti, and in essence she was the daughter of a recently killed mob boss and was not just a victim of a random shooting but was rather a target. At this point Jack goes from an average Joe to becoming Wild Dog.

The new Vigilante was armed by a 9 mm machine gun and a pair of electrified shock gloves. His costume was composed of camouflage pants, combat boot, a State University T-shirt (Hiding his body armor) and last but not least a hockey mask.

Besides the use of arms, his abilities included hand-to-hand combat and the use of his knowledge of mechanical engineering. In an altered timeline Wild Dog is part of a resistance led by the Green Arrow against the domination of Maxwell Lord (whom we have seen a version of on Supergirl) over the entire world. In this version Wild Dog ends up mind controlled by Lord and shoots himself.
